We’ll be back next week with “This Week in Chick Lit,” but for today, we thought a writing exercise to kick off the weekend might be fun.
Are you ready?
Write a scene in which your protagonist is in her apartment, having a relaxing movie night with the guy she’s been going out with for the last month. She spent years harboring a secret and painful crush on him before he finally, finally asked her out.
She’s so happy and relaxed she can’t wipe the goofy smile off her face. He’s even cooked her an incredible dinner in honor of their one month anniversary.
But then he does something that turns her joy into major disappointment and fear. To most other women, the act would be so minor they would hardy notice. But to your protagonist, it feels like the end of the world.
What has he done, why does your protagonist care so much, and how does she react?
Have fun! 🙂 Feel free to share your scene in the comments, or at least let everyone know how the writing went.
Have a great weekend!
