  1. I remember sneaking Valley of the Dolls past my mother! Back then, it was hot and commercial–just no chick lit nomenclature. And I LOVED the 25 things list–thanks for another “This Week” post!

  2. Sorry about the Jeff. I think their site may have been down temporarily but it seems to be okay now.

Angeline, I never knew Astrid Lindgren wrote chick lit! I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I really enjoy vintage chick lit as well, and think they do tell the story of how women saw themselves in those days, and you can learn some modern day history. For instance the office-girls who were the chick-lit heroines of the 50´s and 60´s have now turned into lawyers, entrepreneurs and academics. Doesn´t that tell us something about the world?
I read the Rona Jaffe-book recently since it´s been re-published in Sweden, and as a fun fact I can mention that the swedish author Astrid Lindgren (childrens books and maybe most famous in the US for Pippi Longstocking?) actually wrote chick-lit in the 50´s…

  4. Thanks Melina! I love the post on vintage chick lit! I hadn’t heard of any of the books she mentions and now can’t wait to order them from my local library and read them! 🙂
