The Women’s Fiction Writers Association has launched the Rising Star Contest, the first contest designed exclusively for the unpublished women’s fiction writer.

The Rising Star Contest offers the chance for priceless feedback from three published authors, plus the opportunity to break out of the slush pile and land on the desk of five final round judges, all acquiring agents of women’s fiction. There are no categories! The Rising Star is open to all women’s fiction, from contemporary to historical, mainstream to literary, realistic to paranormal, and everything in between, as long as the story’s focus is on the woman’s emotional journey.

Published Authors
The Rising Star is looking for additional published authors to be our first round judges. This is your opportunity to help an aspiring women’s fiction writer.

Unpublished Writers
The Contest opens on May 1 and is limited to 75 entries. Get those first 35 pages of your completed women’s fiction manuscript polished (plus a 2-3 page unjudged synopsis).

The final round judges –
Katie Shea Boutillier, Donald Maass Literary Agency
Susan Brower, Natasha Kern Literary Agency
Natasha Kern, Natasha Kern Literary Agency
Donald Maass, Donald Maass Literary Agency
Carly Watters, PS Literary

More information about the Rising Star contest, including the first round judges score sheet, as well as the rules and FAQs can be found on the WFWA website.

If you have questions about the contest or to volunteer as a judge, you can contact the Rising Star Chair at risingstar@womensfictionwriters.org or email WFWA Founding President Orly Konig-Lopez at orly@oklopez.com
