Character Recipe for Emery Lockwood

There are lots of things in this world I wish I was good at. Cooking is one of them. If you’re like me, you need that step-by-step picture book guide to get your recipe just right. I can’t ever seem to get the water to boil at the right time to add the different ingredients, or to bake the cake at the right length of time. I’m the queen of under and over cooking.

But, even if you are like me and you’re cooking-challenged as I like to say, there’s one thing that anyone can cook up. That’s a character. It’s probably the easiest, funniest thing I get to do and its one of my professional jobs. Character cooking!

When I set out to write The Gilded Cuff, the first book in my Surrender series which debuts February 10^th from Hachette, I wanted to cook up the perfect hero. Meet Emery Lockwood, a bad boy billionaire who survived a kidnapping when he was 8 years old and now lives as a wealthy recluse on Long Island’s Gold Coast. Keeping his dark past a secret, he rarely ventures into town except to go to the exclusive BDSM club called The Gilded Cuff.

Here’s what I came up with in my character kitchen!

Recipe for Emery Lockwood (aka A Sexy Alpha Hero)

–       Collect the follow items into one large mixing bowl

• A dash of Danger
• A cup of Dominance
• 1 package of bacon (read the book for more details as to how bacon relates)
• ¼ cup of Sexy
• 1 lb of Hot Body
• 1 tablespoon of Sin
• 2 handfuls of spanks

–       Stir the items until they’re properly whipped, then close your eyes and voila! Instant man candy recipe!

–       Suggested additions to this recipe include adding one passionate investigative reporter Sophie Ryder who is determined to get to the bottom of Emery’s story and solve the mystery of who really wanted Emery dead all those years ago; one seasoned loyal bodyguard Hans Brummer, two sexy as hell alpha dom friends of Emery’s named Royce Devereaux and Wes Thorne and one tech geek that looks more like a hot surfer from a California beach.
