Writing Prompt – Yada, Yada, Yada. . .

Happy Friday. :-) It’s Melissa here (aka Melina).

To kick off the weekend, we’ve got a writing another writing prompt. Don’t be shy. Dive in and give this a shot. It’ll get you warmed up for a weekend of writing, and prompts are a great exercise in learning about your voice.

Not only that, today’s prompt is also an exercise in character building.

It’s also, um, kind of stolen borrowed from a Seinfeld episode.

This is the last of this Seinfeld writing prompt series, but if you don’t have time to get to it this weekend, file it away and come back to it when you can.

Have fun!

Things have been going well for your protagonist. She doesn’t want to jinx things, but her new relationship seems to have potential.

But. . .

Last night, something happened that she doesn’t want her new guy to know about. Maybe it’s a family thing, maybe she’s about to get fired, maybe she ran into an ex-boyfriend.

In any case, she glosses over the whole thing with “yada, yada, yada.”

Then what?

Leave your scene in the comments! Stuck? This should help. (Or at least keep you entertained.)

If you’re looking for more writing prompts, check out last week’s (it’s never too late!) or look at the whole list of the prompts on our blog.

If you’ve got a favorite Seinfeld moment (or Friends moment, or any TV show moment you love) that would make a good writing prompt, let me know!

Yada. Yada. Yada. . .
