President’s Letter
Dear CRW Members,
Happy New Year! We have such an exciting year to look forward to as your current board is already hard at work on so many fantastic things for 2022. Planning is already underway for the Virtual Writing Conference (pencil in July 8-10, 2022), and we already have some seriously fantastic speakers lined up for that. Related to that, the Stiletto Contest this year will open on March 5, so be on the lookout for that as well.
Also underway is planning for not one but two in-person writing retreats – one with a speaker and one focused just on the writing, both potentially having some book signings set up for attending authors at a local bookstore. Depending on how much interest we have for these, we will either look at a nice, big AirBNB or a small hotel event. Anyone interested in helping with the planning committee, please contact Michelle!
We also continue to work behind the scenes to finish up the remaining pieces of our disaffiliation process, which is still on schedule and running smoothly. While a few outstanding tasks remain, we are officially a standalone writing organization! We will be voting soon on new Bylaws, which we currently have a nonprofit attorney reviewing to make sure we are setting things appropriately from the start. Be on the lookout for more information on that coming soon.
Finally, there are a couple of asks I have for you today.
Help CRW Grow! We are hoping to grow in 2022, and we need your help! Each of you have an affiliate link here (select the Affiliate links tab) that you can share with your contemporary romance author friends for them to join CRW. They get to join a supportive writing organization, and you get $5 off your next annual renewal for each sign-up you refer, up to $40 total.
Where can you volunteer? We still have a few volunteer positions open that we could use your help on. Please take a moment to review what’s still needed and let us know where you might be able to help this year!
