Writing a Series: Are you serious? – Writing a series takes time and commitment. After all, any series is going to take you years to complete at the rate most authors release. So is it worth it? Absolutely. Why? Because readers love series books. If you’re going to do a series, what do you need to know? What subgenre will you write it in? Have you published in this subgenre before? What other authors are doing a series in the subgenre? How much competition are they for you? Do you want to base the entire series around a trope (eg billionaires) or a specific place (Hello, Virgin River!) Can you come up with enough compelling characters to fill out a series? Can you worldbuild enough to support a series? Will you be able to release your series of books in time that readers in this saturated marketplace won’t forget you? Those are only some of the topics we’ll tackle in this workshop. Some of the things we’ll talk about take place before you start, some during the process, and some when you’re ready to stop writing the series. This workshop is for beginners to seasoned writers.
About the Instructor:
Cassandra Carr is a multi-award winning writer. When not writing, she enjoys watching hockey and hanging out online. Cassandra’s books have won numerous “Best Book Of” awards and her novella Power Shift was nominated in the E-book Erotic Romance category of the RT Reviewers’ Choice Awards. She thinks the best part of being a writer is penning stories about love and sex while most others struggle with commutes, micro-managing bosses and cranky co-workers.
